Dee asked:

My grandfather has shingles and postherpetic neuralgia (the pain after the rash). He is quite elderly, 90 years old but very healthy otherwise. You would never know he is 90. I was wondering if anyone has heard of this juice helping with this pain from shingles. I hate to see him in such pain.

Adam Winners asked:

The Mangosteen fruit originated in the Malay Archipelago and quickly spread through the warm tropical climates of Southeast Asia. The small dark purple fruit with a delicious white pulp grows abundantly and is harvested twice a year from a small evergreen tree. Native people throughout Southeast Asia have historically used the fruit for its natural properties. It was when Europeans explored Southeast Asia that folklore related to the mangosteen first spread to western culture. However, it was not until XanGo LLC launched XanGo Juice in 2002 that mangosteen began to achieve widespread recognition and acceptance in western markets, such as the U.S. and Canada.

The Mangosteen rind was sliced and dried, then ground to a powder and administered as an herbal preparation. The mangosteen rind was steeped in water overnight and taken as a tea. The mangosteen rind was also made into an ointment and applied externally as a lotion. It was through these popular uses that the benefits of mangosteen were passed down through history and several scientists and explorers took note. The mangosteen is so revered in Thailand that the Thai government recognizes it as the country’s national fruit.

The mangosteen fruit is an exceptional fruit fusing nutrition and sensational flavor. There are many elements found in the mangosteen that provide nutritional benefits. The main compounds, xanthones, are very stable and robust molecules, which show biological activity. The mangosteen fruit contains approximately 40 known xanthones and the majority of these are found in the highest concentration in the rind. Plant actives known as flavonoids offer additional benefits to the body. The two main flavonoids found in the mangosteen are catechins (found in green tea) and proanthcyandins (found in grape seeds). Many research institutions, such as The Mayo Clinic, The Linus Pauling Institute, UCLA Center for Human Nutrition and many others have studied flavonoids extensively. While science is still progressing in its attempt to validate the uses of mangosteen, the research of the mangosteens powerful phytonutrients thus far is quite promising. The mangosteen has been researched for 150 years, resulting in over 110 studies published in scientific journals, with studies touching on every system of the body. Studies on the mangosteen are exponentially increasing, with 15 up to 1980, 30 in the 90’s, and already 45 since 2000.

XanGo Juice is a great tasting beverage with naturally occurring nutrients, such as xanthones and flavonoids. A healthy diet low in saturated and trans fats may reduce the risk of heart disease. XanGo Juice is free of saturated and trans fats. Xanthones (or catechins, flavonoids, proanthocyanidins) are a factor in the maintenance of good health and are a factor in normal growth and development. Juliet Cohen asked:

The mangosteen it is a fruit that originated in South East Asia. It grows only in tropical, equatorial areas. Mangosteen is not well known by the general population. The majority of the benefits come from the outer rind or skin that is used in the making of the mangosteen supplements. One of the most recognized benefits of mangosteens is the amount of antioxidants in them. Antioxidants are compounds the slow the aging process of cells, resulting in higher energy levels. Antioxidants are often referred to as a natural cure all. Mangosteen is considered to be one of the newest and hottest topics in health supplements today.

Mangoxan is an uniquely tasty and surprisingly wholesome juice nutritional supplementation which is comprised of an entire fruit puree of strange mangosteen along with respective new all-natural, high-antioxidant fruit juices and purees. This beverage is distinct from any new character or kind of fruit juice, as it enhances your health in astonishing ways with the assistance of the xanthones included as easily as new antioxidants. Mangosteen and mangosteen supplements to affirm the benefits of mangosteen. It has been promoted in preventing the effects of sure types of cancer; however this has still to be proven.

Mangosteens have been shown to get both anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, and are used by some for just that aim when they contract a transmission. Mangosteen too appears to get anti-histamine and anti-inflammatory properties. Mangosteen have focused on the pericarp, or the darkness, woody rind as opposed to the fruit inside the woody rind. The pericarp contains the involved xanthone compounds. The fruit itself likely has some advantageous compounds but the compounds within the mangosteen fruit have not been studied as easily as the mangosteen rind. Mangosteen juice has been used for centuries as a people cure.

The mangosteen fruit has been widely acclaimed of having the qualities of an anti-histamine, anti-aging salve, antibiotic, anti-viral, and anti-inflammatory. Mangosteen distill has too been mostly received as being helpful in the handling of arthritis, acid dyspepsia, conservative asthma, otitis externa and eczema. It is considered to be at least as efficient and useful as most pharmacological agents, and diabetics particularly are progressively in favour of its consumption. Many diabetic users describe the consumption of mangosteen has decreasing their demand for insulin dramatically.

Steel And Bone asked:

I’ve looked up information on the fruit and I usually get 1 of 2 results.

1) Where it grows, how it tastes, what it looks like, how it’s classified, etc.

2) That it’s a miracle cure for things like cancer, and this information is almost always on a website selling some form of it (as a “health drink”) usually.

Arthritis Relief From Mangosteen?

David Schwind asked:

The mangosteen is a fruit grown primarily in Southeast Asia and is often called the “Queen of All Fruits”. The scientific name is Garcinia mangostana and it is mostly known for its intriguing flavor and many folk mangosteen fruit benefits.

The dark purple rind was dried and ground and used to fight off infection. Ancient healers created an extract of the fruit to reduce fever. Poultices were made to treat parasitic skin infections. It has been used for centuries to treat dysentery, diarrhea, urinary tract infections, and eczema.

Researchers have identified dozens of biologically active compounds called “Xanthones” in the rind of the mangosteen fruit. There are litterally stacks of existing mangosteen research in dozens of countries talking about the benefits of mangosteen.

Xanthones, the active compounds in the mangosteen fruit, have been proven in many scientific studies to promote healthy bodily function.

Actually, Countless people have reported “relief” from their arthritis as a result of taking mangosteen.

Some have felt results in as little as 30 minutes after taking the mangosteen juice for the first time! Others have felt results in 2-3 days, while some people have reported phenominal results in 2-3 months after starting the mangosteen supplement.

People are continuing to see drastic results in all forms of arthritis including- arthritis, rhuematiod arthritis, joint pain, carpal tunnel, lupus, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue.

But the mangosteen fruit benefits were a mystery for ever so long. It wasn’t until about 40 years ago when scientists first put Mangosteen fruit under the microscope that they discovered these “xanthones”.

Xanthones, according to researchers, are some of the most powerful antioxidants found in nature and have also demonstrated incredible healing properties in reviewed scientific studies all around the world.

Xanthones are found more in the rind of the mangosteen fruit than any other food source on earth. The mangosteen fruit benefits have been shown to include/help the following:

Anti-aging, Anti-biotic, Alzheimers, Parkinsons, Anxiety, Antioxidants, Anti-Allergy, Anti-depressant, Periodontal (gum health), Eye health, Migraines, Skin rashes, Hypertension, Pan systemic, Energizer (Energy booster), Anti-Inflammatory, Anti-Tumor, Analgesic (Pain reducer), Nerve pain, Anti-pyretic (Lowers fevers), Anti-viral, Stimulates red blood cell growth, Ulcers, Osteoporosis, Immune Modulator (help immune system), Cardio protective (helps protect heart), Cataracts, Irritable bowel syndrome, Anti-fungal, Anti-pathogenic (reduce pathogens), Anti-parasitic, Supports weight loss, Hardening of the arteries, Anti-lipidemic (lowers blood fat), and Anti-diabetic (lowers blood sugar).

Six Xanthones were even found to KILL CANCER CELLS.

Although the mangosteen is only one food source, its the many xanthones and antioxidant properties that allow it to provide such a wide range of health benefits.

It’s most recognized benefit is its anti-inflammatory properties.

It’s this particularly that is said to be responsible for the endless “arthritis relief” stories that are surfacing as a result of drinking the mangosteen juice.

With over 16,500 people dying every year from the deadly side effects of anti-anflammatory medications, the mangosteen fulfilles a much needed void for natural health alternatives.
